8 a.m. Rotary Breakfast Meeting at the Sewanee Inn. For all alumni rotarians—join the local club for their regular meeting.

8 a.m.–5 p.m. Art Exhibit “Hope and Prey” an experimental film installation by Vanessa Renwick, University Art Gallery.

4 p.m. University Avenue Planning, Convocation Hall. The University will host planning sessions to gather input on how the University might fulfill its mission for future generations of students, specifically in developing a plan for the University Avenue corridor.

5–7 p.m. Downtown Sewanee Design Workshop, McClurg Dining Hall meeting rooms. Share your input for the development of the Downtown Sewanee Master Plan. What should be there? What should not? Come see what the Town Planning Consultant has already gathered and help shape the final plans.

Gown Library Collection The Order of Gownsmen is starting a “Gown Library” for gownsmen who cannot afford the gowns sold at the bookstore. The O.G. is also looking for alumni willing to hand down their gown and pass on one of Sewanee’s best traditions! If you want to put your old gown to good use, please donate it to the Gown Library. Feel free to include a note with your contact information or sharing what your gown means to you, so that the gownsman who receives it will be able to thank you directly. Donation drop will be at the Homecoming registration desk all weekend in McGriff Alumni House.

1–2:30 p.m. Alumni Hike on Caldwell Rim Trail in the upper reaches of Lost Cove. Come hike Sewanee’s newest trail and get a glimpse of the university’s recently-acquired property. To meet for the hike, follow signs to the trail beginning behind the Sewanee Market. (Turn left on Lake O’Donnell Road, turn right on Bob Stewman and go to the end for parking). Guided by favorite Professors Bran Potter, Ken Smith, and John Benson, director of the Sewanee Outing Program.

1–3 p.m. Sewanee Scrapbook Colloquium at the Sewanee Inn.

3 p.m. Carillon Tour in historic Shapard Tower with University Carillonneur John Bordley, professor emeritus of chemistry. Get a bird’s eye view of the Sewanee campus with this informative tour.

3–4 p.m.  Sewanee Ringers Open House in Breslin Tower, Gail Watson, University Tower Captain.

3–4:30 p.m. Art Exhibitions at at IONA Sanctuary Art Studio (owned by Professor Emeritus Ed Carlos) with special artworks exhibits by Harley Nalley, C’08, and Roger Jones, C’07. (Directions: From University Avenue’s downtown blinker light, turn right onto 41-A North. Turn at the first left onto Sherwood Road [route 56]. Stay on Rt. 56 for 2.8 miles, passing both St. Mary’s Road and the first of two Garnertown Roads [both on your right as you go by]. TURN RIGHT ONTO THE SECOND GARNERTOWN ROAD at a one-story home. Garnertown Road curves right toward a green mailbox [#696] on your left. About 15 feet after this mailbox turn left into a wooded entrance marked with tall circular sign “IONA: Art Sanctuary–630.” Drive slowly through the short patch of woods noting a large white carved horse art-form in front of you. In the field then bear left up the hill to the mowed parking area.)

3:30 p.m. Talk “The new era of banking: A CEO’s perspective” by Bruce Van Saun, CEO of Citizens Bank, in Gailor Auditorium. Banking is integral to the economy and how we live our lives. But the banking industry is at a turning point. Successful banks must address an array of challenges. Rapid advancements in technology are changing consumer behaviors. New regulations have created strict new rules for doing business, and it’s imperative that banks regain the trust and loyalty of customers after it eroded as a result of the financial crisis. Bruce Van Saun, chairman and CEO of Citizens Bank, will talk about how banks like his are addressing those challenges and working hard to do more for their customers, colleagues, communities, and shareholders.

5–7 p.m. Welcome Home Reception for alumni and faculty hosted by Vice-Chancellor John and Bonnie McCardell at Harris Commons of Spencer Hall. Catch up with your favorite professors at this popular event.

5–7 p.m. Table Tennis Singles Tournament, sponsored by the Intramural Sports, but open to alumni. In the Fowler Center Rock Climbing Wall Room.

7:30 a.m. Fun Run for Alumni beginning at McGriff Alumni House. Start the day with a 5 K to the Cross and back.

1:30 p.m. The Concession Stand at the football field is run by Housing Sewanee Inc.—Sewanee’s version of Habitat for Humanity. Proceeds go directly to purchase building materials for client homes. Please stop by during Homecoming and buy a delicious hotdog and Coke.

Friday, 3:30 p.m. Talk “The new era of banking: A CEO’s perspective” by Bruce Van Saun, CEO of Citizens Bank, in Gailor Auditorium. Bruce is the husband of Katie Watson Van Saun, C’80. Banking is integral to the economy and how we live our lives. But the banking industry is at a turning point. Successful banks must address an array of challenges. Rapid advancements in technology are changing consumer behaviors. New regulations have created strict new rules for doing business, and it’s imperative that banks regain the trust and loyalty of customers after it eroded as a result of the financial crisis. Bruce Van Saun, chairman and CEO of Citizens Bank, will talk about how banks like his are addressing those challenges and working hard to do more for their customers, colleagues, communities, and shareholders.

Turn right (small lake on left will precede your turn) on Gudger Road (1.3 miles) Note: this road becomes gravel toward the end of travel. Turn right (at road fork) on McBee Lane (266 feet), then left at Myers Point Road and through the open front gate into Myers Point. Follow Myers Point Road south to the bluff where it will turn to the right (bluff will be on the left and lake on the right). Just over the dam and past the lake you will see our house (Lot #8) up on the left (approximately 0.6 mile from the front gate to the house).
