8 a.m.–5 p.m. ART EXHIBIT “Flat Earth Unfolded by artists Greg

Pond, C’95, and Jesse Thompson at the University Art Gallery.

9:30 & 11 a.m. BACK TO THE CLASSROOM Dust off your gown and join current Sewanee students as alumni are invited to sit in on one of the regularly scheduled academic classes.

Committed to the ongoing development of the Domain  as a national center for environmental learning, the University appointed Kevin Hiers, C’96, director of environmental stewardship. Come hear Kevins plans as the chief administrator for the use of land beyond residential, commercial, and campus areas to organize the growing scientific  activity on the land beyond the center of campus.  St. Luke's Chapel.

1 p.m. MEET  TERRY PAPILLON, THE NEW DEAN OF THE COLLEGE. Hear Dean Papillons journey to Sewanee and how his vision aligns with Sewanees strategy and goals. St. Lukes Chapel. 

1 p.m. PRESENTATION by Professor Chris McDonough: Finding Your Place. Come hear about the new first year residential program of intensive learning and group interaction centered on a course offering titled Discovering a Sense of Place—Upon and Beyond the Domain. Gailor Auditorium. 

1–2:30 p.m. ALUMNI HIKE ON CALDWELL RIM TRAIL in the upper reaches of Lost Cove with Professor Bran Potter and SOP Director John Benson. Come hike Sewanees newest trail and get a glimpse of the universitys recently-acquired  property. To meet for the hike, follow signs to the trail beginning behind the Sewanee Market. (Turn left on Lake O’Donnell Road, turn right on Bob Stewman and go to the end for parking).

3 p.m. PRESENTATION The Rising Economic Costs of Extreme Over-Indebtedness by internationally-known economist Lacy Hunt, C’64, Gailor Auditorium. 

3 p.m. CARILLON TOUR in historic Shapard Tower with University Carillonneur John Bordley, professor emeritus of chemistry. Get a birds  eye view of the Sewanee campus with this informative tour. 

3–4:30 p.m. ART EXHIBITIONS  AND POETRY READING at at IONA Sanctuary Art Studio (owned by Professor Emeritus Ed Carlos) with special artworks exhibits by Adam Carlos, Dee Davis, and poetry reading by Cathy Carlisi, all C’89. (Directions: From University Avenues downtown blinker light, turn right onto 41-A North. Turn at the first left onto Sherwood Road [route 56]. Stay on Rt. 56 for 2.8 miles, passing both St. Mary Road and the first of two Garnertown Roads [both on your right as you go by]. TURN RIGHT ONTO THE SECOND GARNERTOWN ROAD at a one-story home. Garnertown Road curves right toward a green mailbox [#696] on your left. About 15 feet after this mailbox turn left into a wooded entrance marked with tall circular sign “IONA: Art Sanctuary–630.Drive slowly through the short patch of woods noting a large white carved horse art-form in front of you. In the field then, bear left up the hill to the mowed parking area.) 

3:30–4:30 p.m. A TRIBUTE  TO DR. JOE CUSHMAN, C’49, professor emeritus of history, on the parapet of Walsh-Ellett Hall, second floor. Hosted  by the Department of History. (Rain location: Walsh-Ellett 210). 

3:30–6 p.m. RECEPTION  FOR FORESTRY, GEOLOGY, AND NATURAL RESOURCES ALUMNI, FAMILY, AND FRIENDS in Snowden Atrium.

4 p.m. CARILLON CONCERT Duets by University Carilloneur John Bordley and Charlene Williamson.

5–7 p.m. VICE-CHANCELLOR  WELCOME HOME RECEPTION for alumni and faculty hosted by Vice-Chancellor  John and Bonnie McCardell at the Sewanee Inn. Catch up with your favorite professors at this popular event.

9 p.m.–Midnight ALL ALUMNI BAND PARTY with live music by Entice at the Sewanee Inn, Founders Hall. 

9 p.m.–Midnight ALL ALUMNI BAND PARTY with live music by the Sugar Hill Gang. Under the lighted and heated alumni tent behind the McGriff Alumni house. Sponsored  by the student activities program board, so students will join us at this. BYOB (only event that is BYOB). 

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8

7:30 a.m. FUN RUN FOR ALUMNI beginning at McGriff Alumni House. Start the day with a 5 K to the Cross and back. 

8  a.m.–Noon REGISTRATION at the McGriff Alumni House on Georgia Avenue. Make this your first stop on the Domain for Homecoming.  Pick up your registration  packet with your nametag, a schedule of events, list of attendees, maps, and Homecoming gift! Pick-up for pre-registered alumni will be self-serve after noon.

We’ll have refreshments, restroom facilities, and a great atmosphere to make you feel right at home. We’ll have the national football games showing so hang out here between events.

10 a.m. ASSOCIATED ALUMNI AWARDS BRUNCH at Cravens Hall. Look for your class reunion table! Join fellow alumni for a full breakfast and the presentation of Alumni Awards and Class Reunion Gifts and to hear remarks from Vice-Chancellor John McCardell. Meet this years award winners. Also, alumni who have reached the Founders Challenge (25 years of giving) will be recognized.
